About Us

behind our name

Our Story

BAO BAO HOUSE was born from a beautiful fusion of two rich cultures, Taiwanese and Nigerian. Our name “BAO” represents “bread” in Chinese. We bring the delicate art of Taiwanese bread-making paired with the warmth and community spirit that defines Nigerian hospitality.

Our Journey

In 2020, during a period when the world had slowed down, we found ourselves doing what our family has always loved: cooking and baking together. From our home kitchen in Lagos, Bao Bao Bakery was born, sharing freshly baked Taiwanese breads and pastries with our community.

The response was immediate and humbling. People were drawn to the authenticity of our recipes, the quality of our ingredients, and the care that went into every bake. Word spread, orders grew, and what began as a home bakery quickly became something bigger than we had anticipated.

As our presence grew, we began showcasing our products at exhibitions. It was there we witnessed something beyond a love for our breads: a growing appetite for bubble tea. We listened, and we expanded. Handcrafted boba brewed from high-grade Taiwanese teas with freshly cooked tapioca pearls became a natural extension of everything we stood for.

In 2025, we took our biggest step yet. Bao Bao Bakery became Bao Bao House, and we opened the doors to our first brick and mortar location in Lagos, a place where the Lagos community could gather, eat, and experience the best of Taiwan right here at home.

boba is life

Where Taipei Meets Lagos

Our Philosophy

At BAO BAO HOUSE, we believe the most precious moments happen when cultures connect over food. Our story begins in the streets of Taiwan, where pillowy-soft breads and bubble teas create moments of pure joy. We then come to Lagos, where food is the heart of gathering, sharing, and celebrating life together. We’ve brought these two worlds together, creating something beautifully unique. The BAO BAO experience reflects this perfect fusion.
